Still Under Construction, but please enjoy in the meantime!

You really don’t need much to parent you baby.  Your arms, your breasts and your love are the only vital supplies.

But if you plan to feather your nest a little, here are some products that I have worked with and recommend as helpful.

I endorse them freely and have used them all.  (I do get a small fee if you purchase them through my Amazon links below)

If you have any questions or are looking for advice on another product, I am always happy to give you my opinion!

Wee Sleep

I am in LOVE with this amazing CD made by a former client and happy (well rested!) Dad.  It’s the soundtrack for a peaceful birth!

This music takes me directly to my happy place! The ocean waves provide a constant background that helps pace your breath to a slow and relaxed rate. As I listen to each receding wave I envision tension being draw out of my body and receding with the waters. The light and relaxing guitar music allows the conscious mind to focus on something as you release and let go toward sleep. This is exactly how a lullaby is supposed to work; and this collection does it so very, very well. Don’t wait until your baby is here… buy this now and use it during pregnancy to help you prepare for labor and to familiarize your baby with its calming sound. Listen to it in labor, or anytime you need some help to relax and let go. It will put your baby to sleep AND you too!  It is the perfect CD to listen to in labor, and  lullaby music that you will appreciate as much as your baby does.

Relax App

This is hands down my favorite relaxation tool for labor preparation.  You can download the free lite version to see how you like it.  Then, if you like it as much as I do,  you can begin to explore some of his other titles including one specifically for pregnancy.

It’s available on iTunes for your iPhone or iPad, as well as on Amazon for Android.

I encourage you to use it with headphones in the evening as you are falling asleep or for a brief nap during the day – or BOTH!

It is also really helpful after baby is born if you have trouble falling asleep between night time feedings.

Positive Pregnancy App

By the same person who makes the “relax” app, this one features positive messages about your pregnancy after the relaxation induction. The free one works just as well for relaxation and labor preparation, but if this sounds like something you’d like for variety give it a go.

It’s available on iTunes for your iPhone or iPad, as well as on Amazon for Android.

Contraction Minder App

An easy way to time contractions in early labor.  All you have to do is tap when a contractions starts and tap again when it ends. the app does all the math, keeps track of duration and frequency and you can even email the list right to your doctor or friends.. not bad for free!

This is the app I use with clients.

Birth Ball

What can I say – You really should have one. It’s the best $20 you will spend for this birth.  Sit on it during pregnancy for comfort, positioning and birth preparation. Use it to sit in an optimal position, to move and open your pelvis, and just because it’s more comfortable than a hard chair.

After baby comes, it’s still great. Sit on it and bounce or rock with baby to send them to sleep.  Baby on the ball for tummy time.  You’ll be glad you have it, especially if you have a fussy babe.

Once baby is older don’t throw it away – pull it out of the closet on a cold rainy day and your toddler will be thrilled with this amazingly overgrown ball!

Flameless Candles

You can’t have the real ones in the hospital…. and the mood they set is lovely. Totally a luxury item.

Birthwear

If you feel you would really like something to wear for modesty in labor I recommend something that is easily removed.  Please no sports bras!  A simple pull on skirt and a halter style bathing suit top work well.  I also love the Binsi Bra that is modest and comes off easily. It can also be used as a nursing bra postpartum.
